Part-Time Floater (20 hours/week | 1:30–5:30 PM)

The Children’s Center (TCC) in Portland, Maine is seeking a caring, flexible, and collaborative Part-Time Floater to join our Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood program.

Position Overview

As a floater, you’ll support classrooms across our infant, toddler, and preschool programs during the busy afternoon transition period. You’ll assist educators with daily routines, outdoor play, and end-of-day care — helping to create calm, engaging, and nurturing environments for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 1:30–5:30 PM (20 hours/week)

• Additional hours may be available for coverage or special events.

Ideal Candidate

• Enjoys working with a variety of age groups and classroom teams

• Values play-based, child-led learning and outdoor exploration

• Is dependable, positive, and a great communicator

• Has prior experience in early childhood education (preferred but not required)
